History
The history of word-press.net and phpWordPress. The release history of phpWordPress, the PHP news and article manager that lived on this domain from 2004 to 2006, and what became of it.
From 2004 to 2006 this domain was the home of phpWordPress, a commercial PHP news and article manager made by Spoonlabs, a small software company. It sold licences to publishers who wanted a self-hosted article site with categories, author pages, templates and search-engine friendly URLs. In 2006 the product was renamed Vivvo, and the domain began redirecting there.
phpWordPress was a separate commercial product from a different company. It was not part of, or related to, the open-source WordPress project.
The pages in this section rebuild the product’s story from the archived copies of this site: the release notes, the features each version added, and the announcements posted to its support forum. Where we quote the archive, we link to the original capture on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.
