On 17 February 2006 phpWordPress staff told users the support forum now ran on new forum software. The switch caused the previous day's forum downtime, but all threads, posts and user accounts were re-imported, and anyone with account problems was asked to contact the company.

As you can see, we switched to new forum software. This caused yesterday's downtime of forum (unfortunatelly), but all the threads, posts, and user accounts are re-imported to new forum. If anyone experiences any mistakes with user accounts, please contact us on [email removed].

On 17 February 2006, phpWordPress staff wrote: “As you can see, we switched to new forum software.” They said the change caused the previous day’s downtime of the forum, which they regretted. All threads, posts and user accounts had been re-imported into the new forum. Anyone who found mistakes with their account was asked to contact the company.
The post does not name the old or new forum software. It was the second infrastructure notice in a few days: on 14 February the company had announced a move to a new dedicated server.
The forum matters to the story because most of what we know about the product’s day-to-day life comes from it: product updates, upgrade questions and staff answers. This page and the others in the News board come from the archived copy of that forum.
phpWordPress was a commercial PHP article manager from Spoonlabs, renamed Vivvo in July 2006 and unrelated to WordPress. The news timeline lists the company’s own announcements from the same weeks.
