Later today we will be migrating the hosting to a higher speed new dedicated server. Hopefully, this move will ensure that we have fewer outages and better performance. The transfer should occur on Feb 15th, 1am EST. Be advised that for a short period of time viewing the site and forum will be disabled, due to new DNS propagation. Server Migration will be completely over in next 24 hours from now. If you are facing problem in opening the site please ping [link removed] If it is pinging to 216.227.219.38, then this means the site is running on the new server. Thanks.

On 14 February 2006, phpWordPress staff announced that later that day they would begin migrating hosting to a higher speed dedicated server. They gave the expected transfer time as 15 February at 1am EST. The stated aim was fewer outages and better performance.

The post warned that viewing the site and forum would be disabled for a short period because new DNS settings take time to spread. Staff said the migration would be completely over within 24 hours and gave readers a way to check whether their connection had reached the new server. We leave that address out.

The move followed the downtime of 5 February and came before the switch to new forum software. The company’s news page repeated the announcement and sent readers to the forum for details.

phpWordPress was a commercial PHP article manager from Spoonlabs, renamed Vivvo in July 2006 and unrelated to WordPress. The thread concerns the vendor’s own website and forum. The news timeline shows the rest of the period’s notices.
